This is the one you should get!!! 4. Juni 2014
Von Christopher - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Taschenbuch Verifizierter Kauf
I finally have a book that teaches me Metric Modulations, Polyrhythms and Polymeters step by step!

If you want a book that shows you from the very beginning what these concepts are all about, get this book. I bought two other books trying to find this information, and both times I felt like I wasted my money. One of the books just talked about rhythmic displacement and the other one just didn't explain very well. If I had not kept looking after the first one I mentioned, I would think that rhythmic displacement = polyrhythms. None of those books even mentioned polymeters or using polymeters to improvise and comp. Also, none of these other books were for guitar. I'm pretty sure that this is the only one that has examples for guitarists.

By the way, IF YOU ARE NOT A GUITAR PLAYER, YOU SHOULD STILL GET THIS BOOK. Since the book is really about concepts, you will be able to apply it to your instrument. Everything is explained SO CLEARLY that I seriously doubt there's another book out there that will explain it better.

Von Alexander Cherry - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Taschenbuch
Clear methods, wonderful explanations and sheet music rudiments to go with the audio examples...Priceless! The author is genuine in his quest to deliver the reader from obscure rhythmic purgatory via tangible spoon-fed ways of understanding and applying the concept. In all my years of study only a handful of professors have been able to deliver methods of learning to the student and Rivera is one of the few to do so. A book of this quality should be worth a hundred times its price and if taught could take a semester to explain by lesser caliber professionals. Rivera does what he intends while making this knowledge accessible to all ! I wish I'd had this treasure in my earlier days....

I find that the instructions written in this book are VERY CLEAR! The examples that are given are perfect for some one who's never dealt with metric modulation, polyrhythms, and polymeters. Highly recommend this book!!!

A must have for guitarists looking ahead! 14. Mai 2014
Von Jacob M. - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Taschenbuch
This is a book that will open up new ideas most of us would have never considered. Most of us don't really pay much attention to rhythm and a lot of us are guilty of just simply guessing when we come across a weird rhythm. This book explains how to play those rhythms and allows you to incorporate them into your playing vocabulary. This is the type of next level playing and thinking we all need get into! I'm glad i have this book.
