This book has so much stuff in it that even though I rely on maybe 2-3 chapters for some of the apps I made it is FANTABULOUS!

The Security chapter (13) is worth it ALONE!

And the code they give you (even the real tough stuff if you want to figure it out and tweek it not me I say... heh heh) is so (DARN) useful

Excellent reference book, and stuff in there that after owning for 2+ years I have STILL yet to discover...

I cannot recommend this book highly enough. I bought it on the strength of the reader reviews here, and I was very pleased with the results. This book is marvelous in three ways: 1) Comprehensive reference of Access 97 features. The manual is intended mostly for intermediate to advanced users but it is also written with a very easy style to understand. It is very extensive in its coverage, and it not only teaches you advanced aspects of Access, but also other programming/database techniques (class modules; Win API; automation) that let you fully leverage Access as a development platform. 2) Excellent source code examples on the CD-ROM. Many snippets will illustrate the learning thrust of the chapter, but others are very handy functions that you will be introducing into your workshop of tools. (SQL Scratchpad; string manipulations) 3) Good prep for 70-069 MCP exam. I recently took the test and passed using mostly this book. I was surprised how tightly intertwined the book's subject matter was with the exam material. Several of the Handbook's Warnings and Tips, were profiled almost verbatim in MCP questions. It was wonderfully precognitive. In short, this book is a great resource. Buy it, study it, and you will definitely profit from the experience.

This book is the most used in my library! The material is categorized nicely so you can go to what you need to know about easily. The examples are excellent, well written and relevant - not contrived code dealing with purple dinosaurs like some books have. The authors know the situations developers encounter and have great insight into providing the kinds of solutions needed.

This is definitely not for a beginning Access user, but if you have to write VBA code to solve a problem this book can help you get it done!

Great at any level...
One of the more "straight forward" techy books on MS Access. I used it along with the Transcender tests to get my 1st MCP cert.
