Über den Autor und weitere Mitwirkende

Charles John Huffam Dickens (7 February 1812 – 9 June 1870) was an English writer and social critic. He created some of the world's most memorable fictional characters and is generally regarded as the greatest novelist of the Victorian period. During his life, his works enjoyed unprecedented fame, and by the twentieth century his literary genius was broadly acknowledged by critics and scholars. His novels and short stories continue to be widely popular. -- Dieser Text bezieht sich auf eine andere Ausgabe: Taschenbuch .

The novel itself is great, always has been 2. August 2014
Von cwk - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verifizierter Kauf
I am an educator and our school is utilizing Kindle for reading books this year. The novel itself is great, always has been. I have big issues, however, with the book extras (character list, glossary, themes, etc). These areas are full of misspelled words, incorrect information, and even, at times, inappropriate information. Who writes these and why does Kindle allow such unprofessional material added to their books? A Christmas Carol is not the first classic I've seen with problems in this area. I reported abuse each time something appeared, but where does that go? Kindle, restore my confidence in your professionalism and hire some professionals to write your book extras. I'm not impressed with what I've seen so far.

I got this for school purposes. I forgot it ... 7. November 2014
Von Rand Racey - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Taschenbuch Verifizierter Kauf
I got this for school purposes. I forgot it for class once, so I borrowed a copy from my teacher. We began reading from the beginning of stave 1, titled Marley's Ghost. That worried me, because I remember my copy having chapters, and the first one being Ebenezer Scrooge. We read on and I was struck by Charles's wordy paragraphs. Later, I went home and picked up my own copy to read further on. Come to find out, my book did not have the crazy sentences my teacher's copy had. I looked at the book and saw that it was an adaptation of the original by Malvina G. Vogel. No where on this website did it say the book was an adaptation. The cover image is even different. So, now I'll have to get another book from somewhere else.

A great story! I look forward to watching the movie ... 6. August 2014
Von Jamie W. - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Taschenbuch
Scrooge is a miserly fellow. Very stingy with his money and his affection. "Bah Humbug!" is his answer to Merry Christmas wishes. He doesn't believe in the spirit of Christmas and thinks it a time when people spend too lavishly on themselves and are merry when they don't have reason to be. That is, until he is visited by his former partner, Marley, who tells him to expect three spirits in the night. The spirits of Christmas Past, Christmas Present, and Christmas Yet To Come all visit Scrooge and show him what he is missing and what his life will become if he does not change his ways. A great story! I look forward to watching the movie every year, but had never read the book. Shame on me!

Good background informatio for a great story 28. Februar 2014
Von Patricia Cordes - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verifizierter Kauf
Every Christmas season I reread three books and Christmas Carol is one of them. I very much like the fact that this edition is unexpurgated ... no dumbing down the literature here, thank heavens. I also enjoyed the annotation although much of it was already known to me. Dickens, flaws and all, still encapsulates for me what the Christmas spirit should represent. I like having this version on my fire so I can readily access it come December ... or any other month for that matter. I think it speaks volumes about the climate of greed in America and how very much we have to learn about helping those less fortunate than we.

Kindle MatchBook price was $0.00, actual cost was $0.99 22. Januar 2014
Von Arthur - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verifizierter Kauf
MatchBook listed this book as free, since I had bought the print version already. Amazon charged me anyway. I realize this is not a rating of the Kindle book as such (the print version is 5-Stars for one of Dicken's best works), but Amazon requested a rating and I'm at a loss of how to give the overall purchase a score. Hence. 3-Stars.
