A top ten Amazon bestseller, 3D Printing: Rise of the Third Industrial Revolution, is regarded as a comprehensive primer on the world’s swiftest growing technology.
Have you ever wondered what a world in which any item you desired was available at the click of a button would look like?
The days of wondering are over. The ability for anyone to print guns, drugs, or iPhones is on the horizon. This means a radical change in the structure of society. The technology will prompt a new era of social revolution and large companies and national governments must handle the challenges it presents. 3D Printing: Rise of the Third Industrial Revolution scrutinizes what this means for the world and the future of humanity.

How will 3D printing change your life?
Reality is stranger than science fiction. 3D printing will create future spaceships and robots to manufacture off-world colonies in orbit and on new planets. Astronauts will even enjoy pizza fresh from the printer.
There is also the potential for a new society to emerge. Much as the previous industrial revolutions changed the world we live in forever, the coming third revolution will touch on aspects of every part of your life. From the kind of work you do, to how you travel and what you eat, 3D printing has something exciting in store. Even leisure time will be affected. How 3D printing interacts with the Xbox will be closely examined.
Are you already living in the future? Read 3D Printing: Rise of the Third Industrial Revolution to see how prepared you are. The book explains the fundamentals of 3D printing and illuminates current and future developments, so whether you are a novice or an intermediate user, you are guaranteed to walk away with new knowledge.

5.0 von 5 Sternen An astounding read! 12. März 2014

Having read Aaron Council’s other book, ‘The Rise of the 3D Printed Robot,’ I approached ‘3D Printing: Rise of the Third Industrial Revolution’ with a certain expectation and anticipation. And I’m happy to report I am not disappointed. If you like the other book, then you’ll love this one even more: it is more comprehensive, with a sweeping synthesis of the various developments in 3D printing to show us that there’s a common underlying thread to it all—common enough to be considered a “revolution.”

Comparing the recent surge of 3D printing to an industrial revolution is uncannily spot-on. Authors Aaron Council and Michael Petch use an eclectic array of sources to present their case—the result is a jaw-dropping demonstration of how we’ve come a long way since the first industrial revolution. As a huge fan of renowned futurist Alvin Toffler, I am thrilled with the implications. The astounding potential of 3D printing—the technology can be used to produce just about anything, from pizza to medicine—is so wide-ranging that it is perhaps fair to assume that we’re hitting what can be considered a “singularity”—a point at which it would no longer be possible to predict what happens next. In any case, this book is an incredibly interesting read—it basically announces and outlines how 3D printing goes mainstream this year, and how it can set off a cascade of changes that will re-align the very structure of society.

Overall, ‘3D Printing: the Rise of the Industrial Revolution’ is an exceedingly important read—get a copy of this today, now, don’t delay. By all means send this book to all your friends and loved ones—they need the information to prepare themselves and brace up for the incoming changes. At the very least, they will be “wowed” by the discussion and the writing. If there’s any book that can sweep you off your feet today, this one will be it. A solid five-star rating for this one.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Everything you wanted to know about 3D printing. 22. März 2014
Von Michael - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com

Nike football shoes, Nokia cellphone design, customized prosthetic jaws, Ashton Martin cars, robotic air-crafts - all of these and many more have been made or will be made soon using 3D printing technology. We have all heard of this newfangled technology - it's quite the "in" thing today and is the subject of many online discussions, blogs and magazine articles. But what is it really ? How does it work ? Where is it used ? How does it help you or impact you personally ? What about its ethics and legality ? And how does it impact business and the larger economy ?

All of these questions are sought to be answered at length by the writers Aaron Council and Michael Petch , in what is a comprehensive book on 3D printing. They start off by placing 3D printing in its right historical context, comparing it to the technologies of the first and second industrial revolutions. They predict how 3D printing heralds the beginning of the third industrial revolution, and its huge impact on how businesses are conducted and manufacturing is done.

This is because, 3D printing by its very nature nullifies 2 of the most important factors in manufacturing - geographic location and ownership of production. With this technology, you may be one of the several million people producing the latest model of a watch or a smartphone (not done yet, but very much feasible in the future) in your garage, make as many as you like, without any worry about its price or any other conventional economic yardstick of demand and supply.

The writers discuss at length the ethics of 3D printing and whether it violates any laws. There are individual chapters on the specific uses of 3D printing in fashion, automotive, aerospace and transportation industries, construction business, medicine and food production. Some fantastic scenarios are debated. What if 3D printing eliminates world hunger by producing food for nothing? And what about manufacture of guns ? What if this technology is used by terrorists around the world to produce their own weapons ?

And finally, what about 3D printing's impact on our society and our chosen economic system - capitalism ? Indeed, this technology makes the most ambitious dreams of Karl Marx come true - money and hence power may actually shift to the proletariat, as they become the owners of the means of production. The writers take this in a positive way and say 3D printing only affects adversely the most oppressive regimes. They mention the visionary thinker Andre Gorz, saying, 3D printing might make his dreams of "freedom from the tyranny of work" come true, by creating a society based on "communal self-production workshops".

Will 3D printing really create such a world, of what can only be described as Utopian proportions ? Time will tell.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Learn about how 3D printing will change the world we live in 22. März 2014
Von Roger - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
Three-dimensional printing technology has the potential to revolutionize the world. As authors Aaron Council and Michael Petch explain in this book, 3D printing can be used to generate all sorts of items including automobile parts, medicine, and even guns.

Council and Petch hypothesize that when 3D printing goes mainstream in the very near future, it will reshape the social order. To make this case, they examine the impact of 3D printing on manufacturers and consumers in general as well as particular industries such as the fashion industry, the gun industry, and the construction industry.

This enlightening book is a must-read for individuals who pride themselves on staying up to date with the latest developments in the world of technology. Also, even if you’re not a technophile, if you are interested in learning more about something that will probably change the way most of us go about our daily lives, you should definitely consider reading this book.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Everything one could want to know about about 3D printing 22. März 2014
Von JimmyT - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com

I had heard quite a bit about three-dimensional printing technology when I was in business school. Although the technology was still in its infancy back then, my professors would rave about how 3D printing would change the world for the better.

Well, four years later, no expert on 3D printing can claim that the use of this technology is based on more hype than substance. Aaron Council and Michael Petch correctly note in this wonderful book that as the use of 3D printing technology become more commonplace, it will have far reaching impacts on manufacturers, consumers, and society in general.

I really enjoyed the authors’ intelligent examination of how 3D printing will affect the food, pharmaceutical, and transportation industries. If you are even a little bit intrigued about the powerful role technology has in shaping our future, this book will enthrall you.

5.0 von 5 Sternen The book on 3D printing!!! 24. März 2014
Von Peter S. - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
I've picked up this book to learn more on 3D printing, as it has become quite prevalent in the past couple of years. As many people may have thought, so have I was led to believe that this was some DIY project that would disappear.
However, while reading through this book, I realized that this is not just a phase but has a great chance to bring industry on its head by permeating any industry that has a manufacturing line.
This is a new revolution that is already here and the authors of this book have made an excellent effort to provide up to date technology advancements in many industries as well as the impact on a political, social and financial scale.

This is an excellent primer on 3D printing and would give you a great viewpoint on this new industrial age.
