The text and the companion full-version software (PMWIN) offer a totally integrated simulation system. PMWIN comes with a professional graphical user-interface, supported models and programs and several other useful modeling tools. The future of PMWIN?
The development of PMWIN has taken more than 10 years. The first priority of the development was to create a reliable and yet sophisticated GUI, which supports as many simulation models as possible. In addition to the already supported MODFLOW, MT3D, MT3DMS, MOC3D, PMPATH, MODPATH, PEST, and UCODE, we are working on add-on modules, which should add more and more models into the PMWIN environment, for example MODFLOW-2000, RT3D, MT3D99, and PHT3D (coupled PHREEQC2+MT3DMS). It is also planned to develop capability for coupled surface water and groundwater models. The first add-on module for MODFLOW-2000 and MT3D99 is available since the beginning of 2001.

About three years ago, we started to develop a software package, called 3D-Groundwater Explorer, for three dimensional visualization. The first version has been released in December 2000 and the second version in July 2001. It is capable of displaying input data and results of all above-mentioned models. Using fast 3D-rendering techniques, the 3D-Groundwater Explorer not only generates impressive and informative 3D-images in real time, but is also capable of animating all time-dependent data simultaneously.

The future of PMWIN is clear: it will be one of most complete software package for the water modeling community.
